The Covid-19 pandemic has been stressful for many. The anxiety and fear regarding the novel disease and not knowing what could occur can evoke strong feelings in children and adults. The restrictions such as social distancing that is imposed by the government can cause feelings of loneliness and isolation which in turn can lead to heightened anxiety and stress. To become stronger, you need to find effective ways to cope with stress.
Here’s a brief story of a man we may all relate to. It’s about dealing with the mind. There was once a man who sat under a tree to focus and concentrate on his mind. As he started meditating and closed his eyes, a fragrance permeated the air. He was unable to control the temptation of knowing the source of the scent. He opened his eyes and saw a beautiful girl. She was wearing flowers in her hair.
The man was very disturbed and upset for not being able to concentrate. Keeping his distress aside, he began to meditate and focus again. This time, he heard the sound of anklets. This upset him even more! He decided to cover his face and started meditating once again. The third time, he not only heard the sound from the girl’s anklets but even the silent movements made by her.
Your endeavor should be to bring UR mind back to where you want it – to concentrate on the present and not to get deviated. The idea is to get UR mind to focus. Consequently, a particular distraction or negativity (like the pandemic situation) will be forgotten. This is because focus helps to calm the mind.
In in the initial days of the pandemic, there was a lot of time to ponder over unwanted stuff regarding the virus. This caused feelings of discouragement and hopelessness. Nowadays, every time I speak to my near and dear ones, positivity is reinforced! We reminisce happy times and recall fond memories and revel in sweet nostalgia. Making others feel better is much appreciated by all and makes us feel good too!
